There are sacred moments that intensify our sense of being. Moments when time seems to stand still, the edge of a curtain ripples in a passing breeze, and rays of sunlight paint images on the walls. In such moments, an inner space emerges, along with an opportunity to experience it deeply.
We are surrounded by objects, shapes and colours, yet what gives us weight and anchors us to the ground are relationships and people. Maxim Velčovský’s installation Veranda connects the world of material objects with emotions. It offers an experience that combines wonder and tranquillity, individuality and a sense of belonging. It captures the moment when, in our uniqueness, we feel part of something greater that transcends us.

At the centre of the installation is a table that gradually transforms, its surface rising from the height of a child’s table to the level of a bar counter. This gradual progression is not merely a formal gesture, but a metaphor for growth, transformation and the passage of time: from a child’s first games at the table, through shared moments with family or friends, to informal conversations at a bar.

In this way, the table literally and metaphorically connects different stages of life and different forms of sharing. People sit beside one another, coming together, only to give up their places to others a moment later, in one continuous gesture.
The installation creates an open space in which there is room for everyone whom design has brought to the Trade Fair Palace. Design is the connecting element here, and the table is its symbol.
